Search continues in Chile for missing Argentine teenager in the sea

The search for an Argentine teenager who went missing after entering the sea in Chile with his cousins and brothers continues this Thursday with a major operation by the Navy of that country. Alejandro Cabrera Iturriaga, 17, was last seen on Monday, November 17, in the Playa Cuatro Esquinas area. Although the authorities are still focused on various procedures covering the area from Playa Blanca to the caleta of Peñuelas, they state that everything depends on the weather conditions, highlights the Chilean newspaper El Día, as learned by the Argentine News Agency (NA). Daniel Sarzosa, captain of the port of Coquimbo, explained that for the moment «there are no results or clues that would lead to finding the missing person», so it is expected that jet skis and a robot will be included in the operations. For his part, Javier Godoy, municipal delegate of Avenida del Mar, emphasized: «In the municipality, we have between 35 and 40 officials. If we add the support of Coquimbo, the COSAR group and other volunteer teams, there are more than 100 people participating in the operation». The first revelations of the case highlight that days ago, Iturriaga, who has lived in Chile with his family for years, received a visit from his cousins, so on Monday afternoon he went with them and his other brothers to the beach. Neighbors indicate that it is a dangerous area and that almost all year round it has a red flag, prohibiting swimming, due to strong currents. «I try to relax him, I catch him, I take him out a little to where he can stand and I say, 'come out, I'm going for your brothers,'» recalled Francisco Boldo, the mason who rescued the boys in an interview with the local media Meganoticias. «I took off my clothes, I was in shorts and I went to save him. I advanced about 10 meters and I see the first boy who was about 15 years old, he was swallowing water. Even so, the young people disregarded the warning and went into the water».
