The body found in La Serena, on the Chilean coast, has been identified as Alejandro Cabrera Iturriaga, a 17-year-old Argentine teenager who drowned in mid-November while swimming in the sea with his family. Jaime Lazo, head of the Elqui prefecture, confirmed this during a press conference on Friday. He stated that the body found on November 27th by the Navy corresponds to the minor. "The personnel of the Homicide Brigade of La Serena, together with specialists from the regional criminalistics laboratory, scientifically established through field examinations that the body found by the Navy in the Cuatro Esquinas sector corresponds to the Argentine teenager who disappeared at sea on November 17 while bathing with his family," explained the prefect. Lazo explained that the case involved coordinated work with the Navy and other security services of the commune and the region: "In addition to the rescue of the young man, a scientific-technical process was carried out with the corresponding institutional protocols, which allowed for the confirmation of his identity." It was indicated that the teenager was found by a General Service Boat (LSG) from Coquimbo while conducting a fishing inspection patrol. This discovery occurred days after authorities had suspended search procedures due to the low probability of survival. In this context, family and friends held a ceremony on the beach.
