Tragic Accident Claims Life of Young Girl in Los Lagos

An Argentine family suffered a tragic accident on the Chilean route T-39, in the commune of Los Lagos, Región de Los Ríos, Chile. The vehicle they were traveling in first collided with a guardrail and then with an old bridge pillar, resulting in the death of a minor and injuries to three others who were transported to a local hospital.

The Los Lagos Fire Department issued a statement deeply lamenting the loss of life in the accident and expressing condolences to the family and loved ones of the victims, all of Argentine nationality, who were heading to Argentina through the Hua Hum international crossing. The driver lost control while taking a curve on the Malihue bridge, amid unfavorable weather conditions due to the heavy fog affecting visibility at the time of the accident.

Rescue units from the 1st and 3rd companies of the Los Lagos Fire Department worked at the scene of the incident, as well as personnel from the Emergency Medical Care Service (SAMU) from the bases in Los Lagos and Panguipulli. The Panguipulli Fire Department's vehicle rescue unit also joined the emergency efforts at the accident site.

The Chilean Public Ministry ordered the intervention of the Traffic Accident Investigation Section (SIAT) of Carabineros to conduct the necessary investigations to determine the exact circumstances in which the fatal accident occurred. The affected family was returning to Argentina when the tragic incident on the Chilean route happened.
