Chilean President votes in the presidential runoff election

Chilean President Gabriel Boric cast his vote in the presidential runoff election held this Sunday. Boric voted at the Liceo Industrial Armando Quezada AcharĂ¡n in Punta Arenas. After voting, he commented on the election day, saying: "Today for the last time as President of the Republic, I have exercised my right to vote, an opportunity to reiterate that this right and duty we should never take for granted, we must protect it, respect it, and honor it". The President also emphasized "the responsibility that this entails: our decision impacts the shared destiny of our nation". According to Agencia Noticias Argentinas, the Head of State also recognized the Electoral Service and the table members, highlighted voting from abroad, and reminded about the necessary documents and the closing time of the polls (6:00 PM). Boric also commented that, in his opinion, these elections are not a plebiscite on his government. "I don't believe this is about a plebiscite on the government or not," he affirmed. The President emphasized that "here Chile is deciding on its future. The candidates in dispute have presented their proposals to the country, and Chilean men and women are going to decide based on what they expect for the future of Chile". Polls will remain open until 6:00 PM, as long as there are no people intending to vote in line inside or outside the polling station.
