After a continuous interruption of 12 years, the university revealed a collection of more than 1,000 pages collected by the famous poet Pablo Neruda and donated it to the university on the occasion of his 50th birthday. The exhibition, which opened in Santiago, includes a vast collection of colorful shells and various sources, and it was part of a gift from the poet to the university to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the preservation of these rare artistic pieces.
The exhibition features a collection of unique shells, including a massive shell dated back to 1951, which exceeds 50 centimeters in length. The exhibits also include other smaller shells of different species that Neruda used as inspiration for his poetic works.
The artistic project aims to highlight the poet Pablo Neruda's heritage and his interest in shells as a symbol for environmental issues and the preservation of ecosystems. The exhibition titled "Mollusca. The Poetry of Shells" is the largest exhibit of shells collected universally by the poet Neruda, the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature.
The exhibition features rare pieces of shells collected from the coasts of Chile and other regions around the world, including shells that date back to ancient trade in Africa and Asia. The exhibition will remain open to the public for at least a year, with content that includes poems and quotes from the works of the poet Pablo Neruda.
