Panama and Chile Strengthen Cooperation in Santiago Meeting

Panama's President José Raúl Mulino and Chile's President-elect José Antonio Kast met at the Cousiño Palace in Santiago, Chile. This meeting, held a day before Kast's inauguration, aimed to strengthen economic integration and bilateral cooperation. Mulino highlighted Chile's importance for Panama, as it is the first Latin American user of the Panama Canal. During the meeting, Mulino proposed the establishment of a bilateral commission to manage the agenda and advance on common issues. These issues include security, drug trafficking, counter-terrorism, and money laundering. The Panamanian president expressed great pleasure at meeting a friend and confirmed his attendance at the power transfer ceremony in Valparaíso. Both leaders emphasized their strong coincidences and their goal of establishing a strategy to integrate Panama into the Southern Cone region.
