In the group stage, they finished second in Group A, thanks to their 13-0 and 8-0 wins against Zimbabwe and Wales, respectively, while they also drew 1-1 with Belgium. Already in the quarterfinals, Las Leoncitas got rid of a very tough rival like Germany, beating them 2-1 in a match that was only decided in the second half.
