Argentines Debut at ATP 250 in Chile

Argentine tennis players Facundo Díaz Acosta and Juan Pablo Ficovich will make their debut at the ATP 250 in Chile this Monday, marking the end of the South American clay court tour.

Díaz Acosta will be the first to take the court. He has had a tough few weeks, falling in the first round both in Buenos Aires and Rio, which has led him to drop out of the top 100 of the ATP ranking. The Argentine, winner of the Argentina Open 2024, will face German Yannick Hanfmann at 2 PM.

Meanwhile, Ficovich entered the main draw after successfully qualifying and will face local Christian Garín, the tournament champion in 2021, in the last match of the day not before 8 PM.

Action for the Argentines will continue on Tuesday with six representatives looking to advance to the second round. Tomás Etcheverry and Mariano Navone will play against French Hugo Gaston and Kazakh Aleksandr Shevchenko, respectively. Francisco Comesaña and Camilo Ugo Carabelli, semifinalists in Rio, will meet Brazilian Felipe Menigeni Alves and Chilean Nicolás Jarry. Juan Manuel Cerúndolo will face Brazilian Thiago Monteiro and Federico Coria will play against Marcelo Tomás Barrios Vera.

The other two Argentines in the tournament, Francisco Cerúndolo and Sebastián Báez, will debut directly in the second round. Cerúndolo is the top seed and Báez arrives as the defending champion after his victory in Rio.
