Argentinian tennis player Juan Pablo Ficovich (175th ATP) faced Cristian Garín (147th) on Monday in the first round of the Chile Open. The match ended with Garín's victory by 6-2, 4-6, and 4-6 after two and a half hours of play.

Ficovich had reached this stage of the tournament after defeating his compatriot Román Andrés Burruchaga in the qualifiers. In the match against Garín, the Argentine stood out in the first set, maintaining his serve and breaking his opponent's serve twice.

Despite a good start, Ficovich was unable to maintain his performance throughout the rest of the match. In the second set, he managed to break Garín's serve again and took a 1-0 lead, but ultimately could not hold the position.

Garín showed calm and determination during critical moments of the match, breaking Ficovich's serve in the tenth game to claim victory and advance to the next round of the tournament. With this defeat, Ficovich bids farewell to the Chile Open, along with Facundo Díaz Acosta, who was also eliminated on this day.
