Coria advances to the quarter-finals in Chile

The Argentine tennis player Federico Coria, ranked 136th in the ATP rankings, defeated the Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, ranked 28th, in an exciting match that lasted 2 hours and 36 minutes. Coria's victory by 7-6(11), 4-6, and 6-3 allowed him to advance to the quarter-finals of the Chile Open.

The match was especially significant as Tabilo was the last finalist of the competition in 2024, where he lost to his compatriot Sebastián Báez. On this occasion, Coria managed to prevail and will face another compatriot, Camilo Ugo Carabelli, to determine who advances to the semifinals of the tournament.

Coria managed to win a very competitive first set in which the parity was maintained until it was decided in a tie-break that ended in his favor. Despite Tabilo's perseverance, the Argentine managed to recover in the subsequent set and force a third and decisive battle.

In the final set, Tabilo managed to break Coria's serve in the first game, but the Argentine quickly responded and broke back in the next game. Finally, in the eighth game, Coria secured another break that ensured his victory and passage to the quarter-finals.

Coria's next challenge will be to face Carabelli in the last match of Friday's session. This encounter will determine which of the two Argentines will reach the semifinals and be one step away from the final instance in the fight for the title.
