58 Argentine Tourists Robbed in Chile

A group of 58 tourists from Mendoza, Argentina, were victims of a violent robbery in Chile today. They were on a shopping tour in the neighboring country. The incident occurred after passing the Chacabuco toll plaza in Chile, when several vehicles blocked the bus. Five masked and armed criminals with a Caribbean accent then attacked the drivers and passengers. The robbers stole money, cell phones, and other valuables from the passengers. The two drivers suffered minor head injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. Franco Pibato, head of La Torre Viajes, the tour company, arrived at the scene to assist the tourists, who were left without their documents. One of the drivers revealed: "While they had a gun to my head, they told me to drive and not exceed 40 or 50 km/h until they made me stop again."
