Chilean presidential candidate vows to work for country until runoff

The ruling party's candidate for president of Chile from the Communist Party, Jeannette Jara, stated that if the election goes to a runoff tomorrow, she will continue to "work for the good of the country" until a successor to Gabriel Boric is determined.

"If it is not resolved today, we will vote the same way. In case of a runoff, I will do what I have always done: get up early and continue working for the good of Chile," Jara stated, as learned by the Argentine News Agency (NA).

In statements to the press after voting at the Poet Federal García Lorca Liceo in Conchalí, the candidate stated: "Whoever wants to govern Chile must be capable of dialoguing with all sectors."

In this sense, she complained that during the campaign she observed "a lot of disqualification" among the candidates.

She asked "not to repeat times of dictatorship" and expressed: "The vote defines how our life will be for the next four years. It is essential to vote informed, analyze the capacity for empathy, ask if crime will affect you or if you will be able to make it to the end of the month," affirmed the candidate.
