Santiago Mayor Delivers Low-Cost Wills to 90 Families

The mayor of Santiago, David de la Peña Marroquín, led the delivery of low-cost wills to 90 families benefited through the 'Hereda Seguridad' program. During his speech, the mayor highlighted the importance of facilitating this type of procedure, which represents peace of mind for family assets. 'When we walk the streets, when we go to the neighborhoods, when we go to the communities, there are always problems with properties or assets, that is why we have placed so much emphasis on this program and, like this 'Hereda Seguridad' program, we have also done others to solve those problems,' he added. De la Peña Marroquín reiterated the call to the citizenry to foster this culture of prevention. With an initial discount of over 50% from Notary Public No. 136, added to a municipal subsidy of 2,200 pesos, citizens can process their will at an accessible cost of 2,000 pesos. During the four years of the administration, preferential rates and economic support have been promoted through the Low-Cost Wills program, benefiting a total of 198 families with the legal certainty of their assets. 'So what we have been looking for is to regularize all these types of problems to be able to leave the legal certainty of the properties and assets to each of their families; please help me continue to instill this culture to continue inheriting security to our families,' he said. With this program, an initial discount of over 50% was granted by Notary Public No. 136, allowing citizens to process their will at an accessible cost of 2,000 pesos. 'The truth is that a will, if you go to any notary, costs 12,000 pesos, so we managed, together with Notary Public No. 136, to have that subsidy so that all families can afford a universal will,' said the mayor.
